| What if a customer is late
in paying? You have two choices. You can mark
the customer "on catch" and tell the gate not to open. A buzzer can be set
to sound in the office. Or you can have the buzzer sound off, but allow
the customer onto the site. You can set this feature separately for each
"on catch" customer.
Can I add more keypads?
The Mini Max will support up to a theoretical limit of 128
Keypads and up to 10,000 zones.
Can I use this system with a door strike
rather than a gate opener?
You certainly can. Many different kinds of access devices can
be controlled by Mini Max 1.
How about elevators?
Mini Max 1 has output modules available. Each output module
provides 48 output points which can control anything that can be activated
with a relay.
Can I add individual door alarms?
The system has alarm multiplexors available. Each multiplexor
can monitor up to 48 door contacts. With two keypads, the standard system
can service up to 6000 doors.
How about reports?
The Mini Max Software provides many reports. Ask us to send you
our sales litature which has many samples attached.
Is the system Y2K compliant?
The parts supplied by us are Y2K compliant. If you run your
system on a computer you acquired elsewhere, that system and its operating
system should be certified by the vendor.
What other equipment do I need?
If you have never had an automatic gate before, you need to
have one built. It is important that the gate and its supports be of
sufficient strength and durability to withstand continual opening and
closing. It should be footed well enough to be impervious to frost heaving
and settling of the underlying ground. Because of the weight involved, and
the individual nature of each gate, such gates are usually custom made by
a local artisan.
You will also need a gate motor. These devices have logic in
them to, upon receipt of a pulse, open the gate, hold it open for a
settable number of seconds, and close it again. If the motor perceives an
obstruction upon closing, it will back off. These devices are manufactured
in a large number of grades, from light estate or farm models, meant to
operate a few times a month, to industrial models made to operate many
times per hour. The better grade of motor you purchase, the longer you
will be able to go between replacements.
A gate specialist will have motors for sale, and will be
familiar with, and stock parts for, the brands that he sells. If yours is
a completely do it yourself project, we can supply a heavy duty Allison
gate motor at a substantial discount.
How about installation?
A gate only system can be installed by a competent handyman who
has a good knowledge of electricity. Ninety days of free telephone support
are included with your system, so even if your local installer or house
mechanic is not familiar with Minimax, we can talk him through an
installation.
If you are planning to install individual door alarms, we
strongly suggest that you retain a local alarm service company from the
beginning.
Where do I get support?
After the expiration of your free support period, support is
available from us on a fee for service basis.
